I've been looking at this bag for a year, and without a doubt Amazon had a great price and Amazon's famous fast delivery. The good news: The leather and workmanship on this bag is gorgeous, to be sure - worthy of its MSRP pricetag. I love the different textures, the same-color stitching (how long are bag manufacturers going to try to fool us that 'contrast stitching' isn't anything more than being able to use one color thread on all of your bags?). It's the perfect size for me. The strap is a long shoulder strap, but don't try to use it to use crossbody. I knew it would be too short but I had hoped my husband could add extra holes, but even at that you would have to be bone-thin to use this as a crossbody, and impossible for anyone if they have to wear a winter coat but I knew that would be a crap shoot. All kinds of functional pockets throughout the bag - I dearly love to be organized but not have my bags look like 'organizer' bags. And thank you for a pen loop!

There are some design decisions however that make this bag virtually unworkable. The rings to which the shoulder strap attaches - the leather on one side is pleated outward, so the strap hung freely. On the opposite side, the leather that was pleated through the ring folded in, bringing it right up against the zipper and pushing the zipper open. There was no way to carry this bag without that happening, no way to push the pleats in another direction.

Which brings me to the most glaring design blunder: the zipper. This is a garment zipper, not a regular purse zipper that has a stop on the end. That means you have to line it up as if you were zipping up a jacket, but you must do it sideways, make sure it's seated all the way, use two hands to hold it while you zip the bag shut. How does a pretty high end bag manufacturer allow such a contraption? There was no reason why a regular purse zipper couldn't have been used. As stated earlier, to add insult to injury, the bag won't stay closed because the design of the strap pushes the zipper open.

Other design elements do not function well. There are two, full-sized pockets on the front and back of the bag, which by nature are narrow. Then you have the center compartment, which inexpicably has another divider, plus the slip and zip pockets. So in essence, this bag is a series of four (counting the divided center) very narrow pockets. There is no place for any item that is not narrow enough to fit these narrow compartments. A nice, open center pocket would have made me consider keeping the bag, despite its other design head scratchers.

I am so disappointed to have to return such a high quality bag that is, unfortunately, so lacking in convenient function.

This is a beautiful bag. Ultimately, I returned it because the size, to me, is in between what I want for a work/commuting bag and a purse. It's a little too big to be an every-day, go to purse.. but not quite large enough to fit an extra pair of shoes and all the random things I have on me for a day at the office. But if you like big purses - this is an excellent option. It's a bit brighter in person than it looks in the photo as well. The gold is really classy.
