I purchased this bag last January (January 2011). I had salivated over it for over 6 months before finally dropping $91 for it on Amazon. As expected, it was beautiful. The pyrite color is awesome and I love the crushed look of the leather. I loved the crossbody strap as well. I had been looking for a large purse that had a crossbody strap. I do not like purses with short straps, as I find that I mess with them all the time because they constantly fall off the shoulder.
Here is my problem with the bag: It is a big bag. I need big purses. I fill them up. There is obviously a design flaw with the crossbody strap. Within 6 months, the strap was fraying considerably on the edges. The "plastic" looking seal on the edges of the leather strap completely came undone and the innards of the strap (white foamy stuff) began to come out. I do not understand why this happened. I don't know if the Sak intends for you for carry one item in your LARGE purse and that's why the strap was so flimsy...or if my bag was defective. Either way, I carried a normal amount of items in the purse (wallet, a few lipglosses, feminine products, etc). I have since returned the purse to The Sak (online website...Amazon is a Sak retailer, so you have to return it to the Sak). I am supposed to get a $91 credit on thesak.com but they haven't finished processing the return. They were very kind and easy to deal with and I had no trouble returning the bag...now I've just gotta wait for the money. Next time, I will buy a Sak purse without a leather strap. This is the most expensive purse I've ever purchased and I have had several purses from TJ Maxx (designer purses at discounted prices) for YEARS, and have never had a strap wear out in 6 months. Please consider my review of this beautiful bag, before purchasing it. If you don't carry much with you, it'll work...but it you are an average woman, steer clear.
I gave the purse a 3/5 star rating because other than my strap problem, the purse was excellent and I still love it (I wish it had worked out!).
