I had searched for a taupe leather bag for over a year. As I searched I became aware that there are many "taupes". Some can be classified as gray taupe, some are a beige-y taupe such as is pictured for this item (and that's the taupe I wanted). When the purse arrived, I was a bit taken aback and disappointed to see that the color is gray taupe. Also, I thought they'd forgotten to pack the strap but it was inside the inner zipper compartment. Once I realized that not only is the color a close enough match to my (beige-y) taupe shoes, but also matches a pair of bronze-y pewter shoes and a pair that's silver and very pale bronze, I was glad they sent this color. Since it is a gray taupe (and looks even more gray in sunlight), it goes nicely with gray outfits eliminating the need to purchase a gray purse. It is certainly neutral enough and matches enough outfits to serve me well. The satchel appears to be good leather and very well made as advertised. The leather feels nice, it is plenty big enough to suit my needs and I expect this purse to last me for decades.
